ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
With offices situated in growing consumption markets in states like Karnataka, Maharashtra and Delhi, the Firm’s consumer entertainment practice area is increasingly well-regarded, particularly for its representation of clients on both the talent and production sides. The Firm has advised production-centric clients on issues ranging from the grant of film option rights, assignment of filming rights, product placement arrangements, and engaging celebrities for promotional campaigns. It has also represented talent-side clients like actors, entertainers, public personalities, directors and showrunners on their contracts with production houses and talent management agencies.
The Firm also provides strategic counsel and legal support to over-the-top (OTT), digital, and user generated content (UGC), and music streaming platforms. The team represents these clients on issues ranging from content regulation, monetisation mechanisms, claims concerning show titles, pre-litigation and ongoing litigation strategy. Apart from our ongoing advisory services, we advise clients on structuring deals for music licensing with copyright societies (both foreign and domestic), particularly for user-generated content. Our cross-functional teams across the Intellectual Property and dispute resolution practice areas enables us to leverage the expertise of multiple lawyers on challenging matters, including music litigation and the treatment of underlying IP assets in commercialisation arrangements.
