Shivani Choudhary holds a B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and has extensive experience in patents and designs. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights and an LL.B., and is enrolled with the Bar. Additionally, Shivani is a Registered Patent Agent with the Government of India. Her strong technical foundation, combined with legal expertise, enables her to deliver comprehensive and practical IP solutions, particularly in complex patent and design matters.

Shivani’s primary focus includes patent and design drafting, prosecution, and oppositions across diverse engineering domains. She also advises on innovation strategies relating to consumer products, industrial equipment, and smart devices. Over the years, she has worked closely with startups, multinational corporations, and research institutions, providing end-to-end IP support from invention harvesting to the development of commercially valuable patent portfolios.

Prior to joining Obhan Mason, Shivani gained significant experience at reputed boutique IP firms, where she specialized in patent drafting, prosecution, and opposition support. She has extensive experience handling patent applications in engineering, software, and AI-related technologies. She has also managed a substantial portfolio of design applications and led IP due diligence for mergers and licensing. Her work has contributed to building long-term client relationships and supporting organizational growth. Shivani has also represented clients before the Indian Patent Office, securing patents and registered designs.

At Obhan Mason, Shivani advises clients on patent portfolio development, drafting, prosecution, and litigation strategies. She regularly provides guidance on freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches, state-of-the-art reviews, and patent landscape studies. With substantial experience in international patent filings, including PCT applications, she assists clients in navigating global patent protection by coordinating with foreign associates and managing multi-jurisdictional deadlines to secure rights in key markets.
